RomSMP - Minecraft server

How to join

Minecraft Java Edition (PC/Mac). Bedrock, phones and consoles can't join.
In the launcher open Installations → New installation and pick version release 1.14.4. The server runs exactly 1.14.4, other versions are refused.
Start it, then Multiplayer → Add Server and type rompc.net as the address.
Join and say hi! You start as a GUEST: you can look around and chat. Ask staff in chat to make you a MEMBER so you can build.

What's different from plain vanilla

VeinMiner

Hold Shift and mine an ore or chop a log: the whole vein or tree comes down (up to 64 blocks).

One player sleeps

One person in bed skips the night and the storm. AFK players never count.

Sit anywhere

Right-click a stair or bottom slab with an empty hand to sit. Sneak to stand up.

Easy harvest

Right-click ripe crops to harvest them and they replant themselves.

Opt-in PvP

PvP is off for everyone. A fight only happens if both players turn it on with /pvp.

Death coordinates

When you die, only you get a message with the exact spot. Go get your stuff back.

Teleport to friends

/tpa name asks to teleport to a friend; they answer with /tpaccept.

Heads & armor stands

Players drop their head in PvP, mobs sometimes too. Pose armor stands with /trigger as_trigger.

Coordinates HUD

/trigger ch_toggle shows your coordinates and direction above the hotbar.

Mail & nicknames

/mail leaves messages for offline friends, /nick gives you a nickname (shown as ~Name).

Nothing gets lost

Every block and chest is logged, so griefing can be rolled back. The world is backed up every night.

No lag spikes

The world around spawn is pre-generated, so exploring stays smooth.

Ranks

GUEST Every new player. Explore, look around and chat, but no building, chests, doors or fighting yet.
MEMBER Full survival with all the extras above. Staff promote you after you say hi.
ADMIN Helps keep the server friendly: promotes Guests, handles reports, rolls back griefing.
OWNER Runs the server.

Rules

Be kind - friends, family and the squad play here together.
No griefing or stealing. Ask before building close to someone else.
No cheats, hacked clients, x-ray or duping.
No spam, CAPS or advertising other servers in chat.
Everything is logged and can be rolled back.

Something wrong? Type /report name what happened in game and the staff get it with your location.

Handy commands

/help: everything you can do with your rank
/list: who is online
/tpa name · /tpahere name: ask to teleport (3 s warm-up, 60 s cooldown)
/msg name text · /r text: private message, reply
/mail send name text: message for someone who is offline
/pvp: turn your PvP on or off
/nick name · /nick off: nickname
/ignore name: stop seeing someone's messages
/afk: mark yourself away (automatic after 5 minutes)
/report name what happened: tell the staff

Good to know

Why does the server restart at night?

Every night at 04:00 (Israel time) it saves, makes a backup and restarts. It's back after about 4 minutes. If you're online you get a 10-minute warning.

Is AFK farming allowed?

Yes. After 5 minutes without moving you get an [AFK] tag in the tab list, and you never block others from sleeping.

Can I join from my phone or console?

No, only Minecraft Java Edition 1.14.4 on a computer.

Someone broke my house!

Use /report in game. Every block change is logged and staff can undo it.
